What Happens There?
Every House Church (HC) is unique. Content and activities within each will vary with the individuals involved. However, basic elements which take place in all HC’s include food, a time for sharing what’s going on in each other’s lives, prayer for one another, and a time learning what the Bible says and how it applies to our lives. Some HC’s will also occasionally have a time to separate into smaller groups of men and women to pray for and encourage one another, keep each other accountable in our walk with Christ, and practice transparency in all areas of life. House Churches emphasize community and Bible study in a relaxed atmosphere. Questions are welcomed and discussions are the norm. Guests are welcome and are invited to participate in as little or as much as they like. Sometimes a HC will just hang out together for special events or even celebrate birthdays. We encourage everyone who considers themselves a member of Soma Community to be involved in a House Church. Once a quarter HC’s will decide a way in which they would like to impact their community. It could be as simple as repairing a neighbor’s fence, paying someone’s bills, having a neighborhood bbq, or whatever else they decide.Once they have decided, funding and prayer come from the entire Soma Community. In this way we all can share directly in our local neighborhoods. |
