Our Vision
"The Church is People" At Soma Community we don’t want to simply invite people to church, we want to invite them to be the church. We believe that all the descriptive terms often used to describe a church such as its buildings, its programs, and its atmosphere somewhat miss the mark. So we ask, "What would it look like to describe a church by it’s people?"At Soma we desire to develop a community of people who gather as the body of Christ in a city, structured in such away that allows people to simply be the church. No programs. No buffet of ministry. Just people. Young people, old people, round people, skinny people, married people, single people, rich people, poor people. Redeemed people. Different people with different tastes in music, different food preferences, different life stages all called to be a people marked by God. We desire for people to see God not because the relationships are easy, free of drama, and perfect. We want to see God in the process. In the relationships. In the difficult, hard, strange relationships. We want to see God in people. We want to invite people into relationships. We want to invite them to Maturity to look like Jesus. We want to invite them to Life. The only thing required? To be people. A neighbor. A mother. A father. A child. A teacher. As best as we can see it at its core the Church is people. Those who have a relationship with Jesus are called to be Him to others, and become like Him. Those who desire to know Him are called into a relationship with a living God. We are all called to open our eyes. At Soma our vision is to stop attending church and start living as the church.
