Community

Definition:

Community is viewed as “togetherness.”  It is everything related to how God works his redemptive ways among people. Community is unlike people finding Christ at the center of their life together.

Abuse:

When commmunity is practiced apart from the other rhythems the result is a club. Clubs are formed when the things for which we have a common affinity become the reason we come together  instead of Christ's work in us.

In Practice: (Some examples)
  • Work on projects together
  • Take a vacation together or do a focused retreat together
  • Share hobbies or recreational interests
  • Become familiar with each other’s life stories
  • Grow in speaking the truth in love to each other.
  • Meet weekly as a Community to encourage one another
  • Make an inventory of what your community has been given by God and make this know to each other
  • Love one another through tangible acts such as encouragement, gifts, time spent, acts of kindness, etc.
  • Forgive one another and love one another enough to go to each other first when wronged
